The Peaks
(Desktop)
The role I filled for this project was all inclusive. I researched, wrote, and designed all aspects of the app in AdobeXD.
Target Audience
The target audience for this project is essentially the same as for the mobile version of the app. We are looking for people who want an animal companion, but don't necessarily have the time to go to a shelter and spend hours looking.

Research study details
The research that I settled on was again a remote 30 min study with people who either had pets, or were looking to get them soon. A mistake I made during this section was not showing my participants the first round that I did, making their initial feedback essentially the same as when I did this for the mobile app. After going back and changing my questions however I was able to get some more detailed responses, which I put in the key challenges section above.

The Goal:
The goal for this project was to learn how to design a desktop application in Adobe XD. I will be basing my design off of the mobile app I created previously.

Key challenges
After getting some fantastic feedback from those who looked at my mobile app I decided to implement some more features that would hopefully tackle some of the challenges faced in the first iteration.
1. Lack of a home or hero image to draw customers in
2. Listing the employees and their jobs, along with a page dedicated for new applicants.
3. Having their age and ailments be even more accessible.
Initial design and wireframes

From left to right shows the progression of the wireframing to the initial design. The far right screen is what the middle screen eventually became. While it is functional it is certainly not polished.
Results from User testing
After the usability study I decided that I wanted to try and create a more engaging intro, so along with a hero image I created an interactable video to help draw in people attention.

Conclusion
Getting used to and using Adobe Xd was certainly the most difficult aspect of this project. Since I had some experience with Figma I thought that the learning process would be easy, but it proved to be much more difficult than anticipated. Overall while I like certain features like the repeat grid and easy turnstiles I much prefer the interface and usability that Figma provides.
